This document presents a fictional, production-oriented UX Design & UX Writing specification created as a portfolio-grade example for a systemic open-world RPG.
Ashes of Dominion — UX Design & UX Writing Specification (PDF)
Production-oriented UX design / UX writing handoff for a fictional open-world RPG. This is a designer-facing artefact, not a tutorial.
This document is a production-ready UX Design & UX Writing specification built around a fictional dark-fantasy open-world RPG concept (Ashes of Dominion). It is written as a handoff artefact that can be implemented by a UI/UX designer without relying on implicit context.
The goal is not “better usability” in a generic sense. The goal is to design friction, asymmetry, and ideological pressure as intentional UX outcomes, aligned with authority collapse, faction conflict, and persistent consequences.
What this is
- A structured UX design spec with explicit intent, rules, constraints, and anti-goals
- System-level UX writing (microcopy, failure states, biased faction voice)
- Production-minded framing: trade-offs, risks, and implementation notes
What this is not
- Not a tutorial or beginner UX guide
- Not motivational or marketing content
- Not a “universal best practices” piece
- Not a full internal game design document
Who it is for
- Game designers, UX/UI designers, and developers working on systemic narrative experiences
- People evaluating production-level thinking, not surface-level principles
